You guys love these posts more than most, so I’ll get right to it. I received my FFF box a few weeks ago and have used most of the items enough to get a decent first impression on them. Let me also apologize in advance for the photos. I was trying something out on my husband’s new camera and after I took the photos, used the products, and tossed half the packaging, I realized his raw photos don’t upload into WordPress without being huge. And the time to reformat it was not worth it, so I took some other photos on my trusty iphone instead. Anyhow, enough with the bullshit. Let’s dive in….
Here’s a shot of the box right when you open it, once you remove the flyers and product booklet that comes with it.
Let’s start with the non-body products. First up is The Giving Keys Mini Key Necklace. It retails for $45. I think it’s very cute (so cute in fact, I have one in gold almost exactly like it from a different brand) but the chain is very cheap. It kinks up immediately. Even in the photo above you can see that it is kinked up brand new on it’s card. And you can’t see it clearly here but it has the word “believe” etched into it. It retails for $45.
I hope I am not the only Reese Witherspoon fan. I’ve adored her since Cruel Intentions. My cousin and I went to Nashville last year for a girl’s trip and my one request was to shop at Draper James – Reese Witherspoon’s shop. So, when this bag popped up as one of the things I got to choose during customization of my FFF box, I jumped on it. It’s not very big but it’s adorable and is lined with the same printed fabric as you see on the detachable scarf. It retails for $75 and is the perfect easy bag for summer.
I actually paid $15 to add this into my box because I couldn’t decide between this and the Draper James Bag. So this was an added bonus I had to pay for. It’s the Business & Pleasure Co. Cooler Bag. It retails for $59 and I’ve already used it twice taking snacks and drinks to the pool with my kids. It’s the perfect size, well insulated, and such a happy color.
First up for the makeup/skin care shit is Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil. It says it’s universal but it was too dark for my eyebrows. But I do love the packaging of it. It has the retractable soft brow pencil on one side and a spoolie on the other side and the spoolie is nice and sturdy. It’s just too dark for me! But the product itself seems high quality. It retails for $16. (I’m starting to feel like fucking Bob Barker…”It retails for…..”)
Now we have Terre Mere Aloe and Tea Tree Toner. Their website states it has “Concentrates of organic aloe leaf juice that replenish dehydrated skin with added moisture retention and supports collagen synthesis levels providing the skin with long term anti-aging benefits. Super ingredient tea tree oil provides the skin with antioxidant support, fighting off environmental toxins that weigh down and prematurely age skin.” It retails for $54. I really enjoy this product but I don’t think you need to pay $54 for toner! If you’re looking for a nice, gentle one for a fraction of the cost, check out Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Toner. (It’s $18 and lasts foreeevvveerrr.)
Next up is The Lyfestyle Co. Beach Mist. It has aloe, mint, and lavender in it to help refresh and reset your skin after a day at the beach or pool. I will be totally honest here, this is the one product I have yet to use. I’ve hit the pool with my kids, but after having melanoma back in 2004, I lather sunscreen on all of us so I never really get burned anymore. But I’m sure it’s very refreshing. It might also be good just to spritz on your pillow at night since it has lavender in it, or to simply use as a light body fragrance. This retails for $42. If you’ve tried it already, let me know your thoughts!
The older I get, the dryer my skin gets, and the more I appreciate a good face oil. I used to mix them into my moisturizer but it made my moisturizer slip off my face. So now I put face oil on first, let it sink in, then slap on my moisturizer (with SPF in it of course.) This one is the most expensive product of this quarter’s FFF box as it retails for a whoppin’ $120. It’s the HydroPeptide Moisture Reset Oil. It’s made with pure plant oils and rice bran extract and nourishes the skin’s lipid barriers. It’s also supposed to protect the skin from free radicals. Now, I don’t think any face product is worth $120 (not even La Mer in my book) but when it comes in the box, you can bet your ass I’ll be happy to use it!
Now we have Spongelle Hand Cream in coconut verbena. It retails for $18 and nourishes your hands with a blend of hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and macadamia seed oils. I am not picky on hand cream and will use anything. Living in Colorado, my skin is happy to soak up any moisturizer. This one smells great though, and the packaging is pretty. Spongelle is mainly known for their sponges that come infused with soap. I’ve used those before too but they run out of soap rather quickly.
Our last product of this quarter’s box is the Cali Cosmetics Foot Cream. It retails for $24 and smells really nice. Once again though, if it weren’t in the box, I wouldn’t pay that price for foot lotion. To me, Gold Bond Healing Foot Cream does the same trick for $5.
Overall I really enjoyed the Summer 2020 Fab Fit Fun Box. If you’re interested in trying it out, you can use this link to try it out! My entire box was worth $394 and I pay $45 for it! To me, it is totally worth it to try out high-end products but the thing I really love, is that all of these products are full-size. They aren’t tiny little samples or testers, so you get a lot of miles out of them. Plus, if you’re a preferred member (where you buy a year’s worth of boxes at once versus paying per quarter) you get 4-5 customizations each quarter. So you get to pick what you like best out of their selection of options! Then for the rest of the items, it’s their choice on what to send you but I find they do a pretty great job of switching it up every quarter.
