If your daughter’s constantly saving TikToks and Pinterest pins of the perfect preppy teen bedroom, you are definitely not alone. Between colorful bedding, acrylic decor, neon signs, scalloped details, and that effortlessly cute “clean but still fun” vibe, preppy bedrooms are everywhere right now. Whether you’re doing a full room makeover or just swapping out a few pieces, these preppy teen bedroom ideas will help you create a space that feels trendy, cozy, and full of personality.

Preppy Teen Bedroom Dresser:

We’ll start on one side of her room and work our way through the chaos like it’s an HGTV reveal. Lila was dead set on a white dresser and nightstand with gold accents because apparently she has expensive taste despite still asking me for rides everywhere. Thankfully, we live near American Furniture Warehouse. It’s basically where dreams go when Pottery Barn prices try to ruin them. She found this nightstand and matching dresser there, and I’m linking the exact pieces through Home Depot since AFW isn’t on LTK. Her dresser didn’t come with a mirror, so naturally I went hunting for an Anthropologie dupe on Amazon. I refuse to pay nearly a thousand dollars for reflective glass. Honestly, this one looks so good it feels borderline criminal.

She already had some cute makeup organization between this tiered rotating tray and makeup egg. She used her own allowance to buy this hanging jewelry organizer based solely off of its “vibes.” And this bracelet organizer is older but I love that she ROYGBIV’d it. (Put it in rainbow order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.) Makes my former retail manager heart so proud! And then next to her dresser, we kept her little reading nook simple with this grey chair.

Preppy Teen Bedroom Vanity tour:

Now as you know, I don’t sugar coat shit for you guys. We ordered this vanity and while it is absolutely amazing, it was an absolute bitch to set up. It took Vince and me the better part of a Saturday. I knew we were in trouble when a box the size of a pencil case showed up containing approximately 14,000 parts and the emotional stability test of our marriage. Lila really wanted a chair with a back versus the stool the vanity came with. So I got this adorable clam shell chair. The throw pillow is a pearl! How cute is that?

What is inside the vanity of an almost-13-year-old you ask? Well, in Lila’s case, the answer is more skincare than any person will ever need. If you want info on any of her products, I have an entire LTK collection here where I link it all.

Preppy Teen Bedroom Decor:

Lila’s style is basically a mashup of me (coastal grandma) and a teenage girl hopped up on bright colors. So to keep things beachy while still staying in the preppy lane, I grabbed these prints from Amazon and threw them into cheap white frames.

Then I found these fake decorative books that perfectly match the prints. They’re hollow inside, which means you can hide your secrets, snacks, and any other shady teen activity. And finally, Lila got these cute fake succulents from an old crush for her birthday. (Shout out to Jonah for contributing to the aesthetic.) So naturally, she scattered those all over her room.

We love an accent wall in this house. Lila’s used to be painted aggressive Hello Kitty pink. Instead of repainting it, I decided peel-and-stick wallpaper sounded “easier.” That was a lie I told myself. But honestly, it tied the gray from her reading nook into the beige walls and bedding perfectly. Was installing it a giant pain in the ass? Absolutely. But apparently love means spending hours arguing with wallpaper bubbles.

Preppy Teen Bedding:

I know this sounds judgey as fuck, but Pottery Barn does really make superior bedding. So for Lila’s bedding we chose this comforter with shams. And she is a huge fan of Roller Rabbit, so lucky for us they collaborated with Pottery Barn Teen to make these sheets. And then I got this throw pillow cover, seashell pillow, and another pink throw pillow to tie it all together.

If you find yourself also redoing your opinionated teen’s room, I hope this blog helped you! To see how I recently redid my 9-year-old’s room into an axolotl dream, read here. And if your daughter is younger and loves Hello Kitty, here is what Lila’s room used to look like! As always, thank you for stopping by!
