Looking for boo basket ideas that go beyond tossing a bunch of Halloween candy into a bucket? You’ve come to the right place! Boo baskets are one of my favorite Halloween traditions, and over the years I’ve put together everything from cute and spooky baskets for my girls to fun grown-up versions for friends. Whether you’re filling one for a little kid, a hard-to-shop-for tween or teen, or even an adult who deserves a Halloween surprise, I’m sharing tons of fun ideas for what to put inside. From inexpensive little treats and seasonal finds to toys, and more. The best part? You can make them as simple or over-the-top as you want! Let’s dive in.

Boo Baskets Ideas for my teen and tween girls:

My oldest daughter is 13 and I get how hard boo basket ideas can be for the picky teen girl. But I can confirm she loved everything in her basket this year. I got my 10-year-old the same items just in different colors or styles and she was also a fan. Here is what I got for their baskets this year:

Let’s start with the big item – the Halloween print pajamas! I got Lila this pair and Winnie this pair. Then, each girl got a Halloween candle, dumplings, mini-verse, and a Squishmallow. They both adore Jellycat brand stuffed animals, so they got a bat and peanut cat. Next up, I hit up the Dollar Spot at Target HARD! They got a Stanley Tumbler slime sleeve, Stanley straw toppers, pop-its, bubbles, and slime. They also each got two “adopt a monster” figures, mini pens, and mini Halloween notebooks.

And, because my kids are girly girls, I had to toss in personal care items. I got them each a Sally soap (from the Nightmare Before Christmas). And then I grabbed some apple crumble scented body scrub, Halloween press-on nails, and sheet masks. Lastly, I tossed in a Bogg mini Halloween bag keychain. And of course some candy! I asked the girls what their favorite items were and they both voted for the Halloween Dumplings and peanut cat. So take that for what it’s worth!

Boo Basket Ideas for Neighbors:

I love to boo my neighbors. In fact, I collected so much shit this year, that the two neighbors I “booed” got two baskets. One was for their kids and one was for the adults! Let’s start with my friend, Jenny’s baskets!

Boo baskets for neighbors

Jenny is one of my best friends and I love her kids like they’re my own. So I had a good time picking out things I thought they’d like! For her daughter, I got her a pen set from Michaels and I got her son Peanuts branded shampoo and conditioner since he loves Peanuts. Then I tossed in a plush duck and pumpkin, slime, Halloween finger flashlights, popits, an experiment kit, and straws. I found these cute mini ghosts in a bottle, straw toppers, and bubbles in Target’s Dollar Spot too. Toss in a handful of eyeball suckers and put it all in a bucket and voila! A boo basket is born.

Adult boo basket

For Jenny and Matt’s adult-themed boo basket, I stuck to decor and booze. Jenny isn’t a big beer fan so they got hard seltzer. I got this cookbook, a trinket tray, Halloween ice cube tray, and ghost sponge. Then I added a large potion bottle, small potion bottle, magnet, and a couple decorative Halloween signs. Once again, I tossed it in a $1 bucket with some candy.

Boo Baskets for Adults:

As I said earlier, I booed two neighbors. This basket was for my neighbor, Katy and her husband. I made a second one for her kids just like I did with Jenny! In Katy’s bucket, I tossed in a trinket tray, Halloween sign, mini potion bottle, napkins, a magnet, and a sponge. I thought these gravestone decorations from Bullseye’s Playground were cute too. She also got a Halloween ice cube tray, sheet masks, and candy. Plus I threw in two different types of pumpkin beer for her and her husband to try.

Boo Basket for neighborhood kids:

For Katy’s kids, I had some help from Winnie. She is best friends with Katy’s daughter, and requested we get her fugglers and press-on nails. Katy’s son got Halloween pops (like the kind you throw on the ground for the Fourth of July) in lieu of fake nails. Then I added a Halloween science experiment kit, novelty glasses, window clings, pop its, tumbler sleeves, and mini flashlights. They also got candy corn and Peelerz candies plus some slime!

If it isn’t obvious, I rely heavily on the dollar spot (Bullseye’s Playground) at Target for the goods. If you know you want to “boo” your kids as well as neighbors, I also recommend buying larger packs of things off Amazon. I got the Halloween sheet masks, straws, and pop its from there and all three things came in a pack of 12. My favorite thing to add to adult boo baskets is festive booze. Pumpkin beer is my go-to but you could also do little shooters too! I hope these baskets gave you some inspiration for your own boo baskets.

I realize I go a little nuts, but Halloween really is one of my favorite holidays! It’s just as much fun for me to create these boo baskets as it is for my neighbors to receive them. If you want to see the ones I created last year, read my blog here. Here were some cute pink and purple ones I did one year for my neighbors. These boo baskets I created using only Dollar Spot items from Target! Here were pink ones I gave my girls one year. These are ones I made for my neighbors back in 2022. And this boo basket was super simple, but put me on the map with Good Housekeeping! If you want to see how I decorate for Halloween, read my blog here.
