We all know I love my Boo Baskets. But since I’ve already showcased pink boo baskets and baskets for kids using all Target Dollar Spot items this year, I’ll keep this one short and sweet! Let’s dive in.

What are Boo Baskets?

Boo baskets are simply Halloween treat baskets or buckets that you leave on your neighbor’s porches anonymously. I tend to get out of fucking control buying shit for my boo baskets, so I tend to get neighbors who request we “boo” them. (I take this as a huge compliment!) There are no rules as to what you put in them! In my book, you need Halloween candy and also need festive booze. I tend to put pumpkin beer of some variety in mine. If you know your neighbor doesn’t love it, add in hard cider instead.

Ideas for what to put in the baskets for kids:

This year, my neighbor Whitney saw a sneak peak of some of the stuff I had bought for our Boo baskets. She mentioned her daughter would love what I bought so I made one specifically for her. Her basket includes all things purple and witch-themed. I added a purple witch rubber duck bath toy, Halloween pop-its, purple witch cup with a fun straw, a wind-up Halloween toy, a pumpkin orby ball, and some purple witch socks, and a light-up ghost necklace.

All of these items I sourced from the dollar spot at Target! I am including similar links from Amazon though for one reason. If your Target is like mine, it is already sold out of the cheap Halloween shit! If you don’t grab it as soon as they put it out, you’re better off ordering in bulk off Amazon. Then you can use the items over a few years worth of boo baskets.

Adult boo basket ideas:

For the parents, I tossed in some paper Halloween plates, a ghost oven mitt, black and white pasta, paper bats, candy, and cheeky napkins that say, “I’m just here for the boos.” I’ll also leave them some beer next to their basket since I didn’t have room to put any IN it!

My other neighbor I am “booing” this year is one of my closest friends, so I went more nuts for her. I made a basket for her son, daughter, and then a third one for her and her husband. In the kids’ baskets, I added rubber ducks, wind-up Halloween toys, Halloween pop-its, Halloween keychains, mini buckets full of candy, light up necklaces, gel window clings, and Halloween mochis.

Spooky basket

For the parents, I added: Halloween pasta I found at Home Goods, a ghost oven mitt, plastic wine glasses, napkins, gravestone ice molds, an LED ghost decoration, socks, and face/foot sheet masks. And of course, booze! Jenny isn’t big on pumpkin beer, but enjoys seltzer, so she got that instead!

After you gather all of your shit, make sure to print out a free “You’ve been boo’d” sign. Your neighbor will hang it up in their window as soon as they get a basket. It shows other neighbors who has already been gifted a basket of festive treats. I hope these baskets gave you some ideas on what to do for your neighbors!
