It’s that time again! My heart skips a beat in excitement when I see this beautiful bastard on my doorstep every quarter. This quarter’s box was pretty exceptional. I wanted to try all the products for the first few days just so I could give some immediate impressions on what I thought of the products, so here goes….
First up is the Purlisse Watermelon Energizing 2 Minute Polishing Peel. It retails for $35 and is infused with watermelon extract, lychee, and glycolic acid. Simply wash your face and while it’s still wet, dollop this shit on, let it sit for two minutes, then rinse. I loved the smell and my skin is already super sensitive and dry to boot, so the little granules in it definitely helped slough off dead skin.
Next, we have Jaboneria Marianella Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba Body Oil. My FFF guide calls it the “Imperial Jade Body Oil”, I’m assuming mainly because the full name of this product is a fucking mouthful. It’s a pretty standard body oil. Just spritz it on after you take a shower. It comes out in big droplets, not a mist, but that’s probably best to get more product on the skin faster. I like the smell of it, it reminds me of a spa. It retails for $68 and is made with 100% pure oils and pure vitamin E. My skin sucked this stuff right up since I’m so dry. (As are most Coloradans.) I wouldn’t pay $68 but it was a nice addition to this quarter’s FFF box.
This bad boy is one of my favorites that came in the Spring box. It is one of the items I chose to have during the customization period for “select members.” If you buy this boxes one quarter at a time, I highly recommend stepping it up and just getting a year’s subscription. It drops the price of the box down to $45 per quarter instead of $50, and you get to customize 4-5 items each time. I have yet to be disappointed by an item I chose during customization. This guy is the ReVive Light Therapy Wrinkle Treatment wand. It stimulates collagen and elastin using infrared light, red light, and amber light. It is supposed to help increase circulation and promote a more vibrant complexion, reduce the appearance of redness, and reduce wrinkles. You turn it on, put it on the spot you want to treat and just hold it there for three minutes until it turns off by itself. I can’t say I notice a difference yet, but I’ve only used it three nights so far, so I’ll keep you posted. It retails for $68. You can find the same brand but a bit cheaper version here.
Next, we have the Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturizer. During customization I chose my last item to be a “surprise item – picked by the Fab Fit Fun team.” This is what they chose. I like Kate Somerville products, but I immediately gifted this to my neighbor, Kristen. I never use products for oily skin because, as I mentioned above, my skin is as dry as a popcorn fart. But Kate Someville products are great, and this retails for $65, so I didn’t want a nice moisturizer to go to waste!
For the most expensive product in the box, I give you 111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster. Try not to shit yourself when I tell you, this serum is $135. It’s okay – I’ll wait while you go change your knickers. I know skin care is expensive, but damn, they need to calm down a bit with the price of serums. And my honest impression is this is not worth the money. Don’t get me wrong, my skin looked dewy and felt very smooth after applying this. But you know what else does that? L’oreal Lumi Glotion for 12 fucking dollars. Plus, this serum is soooo slippery, that when I put on makeup on top, it just slid right off my face. So while I will use this product on days when I skip all my makeup except mascara, I wouldn’t buy this on my own, nor do I think I’ll go through the bottle I currently have. It says on the box you can use it alone or mix with your moisturizer, and that it enhances your skin’s natural radiance with a blend of rosa damascena extract and pure gold. I have to say, skin care companies need to get off the “made with real gold” bandwagon, as that shit doesn’t really need to go on your face. But I just may not be bourgeois enough for this one…..
For the next product up, I give you Thisworks Deep Sleep Body Cocoon. It’s just a body lotion but if you put it on before bed and take a big whiff of your hands after applying it, I will say, it instantly relaxes you. It also smells like a spa and has lavender oils in it to calm you. I put it on my hands, get into bed, and then use the Revive Glo Light Therapy wand on my face while my husband and I watch TV. (And he still sticks around!!) It retails for $40.
I got two non-beauty products in this quarter’s box. This gold coin necklace by Amber Sceats is really cute, and right on trend with the whole “coin jewelry” look. I love channeling my inner pirate (and I’m not even being facetious, I really do like this necklace a lot!) It retails for $50 and is gold plated steel and alloy.
The last product was another one I let them surprise me with. It’s the Chic & Tonic Silicon straw set. I’m all about reusable straws because I drink green smoothies and juices at home like they’re going out of style, and I’m all for reducing waste caused by a shit ton of plastic straws. This box includes 4 colored straws, a cleaning brush, and a little teal capsule you can fold your straws into and take with you if you’re a die-hard environmentalist. This kit retails for $15. I bought these ones before I even got the silicone ones in the mail and love them. Chic & Tonic also has really cute barware.
I don’t know if y’all were keeping track, but with all the items in the Spring 2020 FFF Box, it retails for $476!!! That’s over ten times the cost of what I paid for it! So if you’re still on the fence on whether or not to try FFF out, I highly recommend it. You can get $10 off your first box by using my link here. I dare you not to love it.
