I probably don’t need to tell you how obsessed I am with creating Boo Baskets! My neighbors might already have a restraining order against me at this point. Each year, I try to outdo myself (and let’s be honest, the kids’ sugar-highs are totally worth it). Here’s what I brewed up this year! And if you’re scratching your head wondering what a Boo Basket even is, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Think of it as a Halloween bucket of goodies you sneak onto an unsuspecting neighbor’s porch. The idea? They pass it along to two other lucky people on the street, and the spooky fun multiplies.

Boo Baskets for my 9 year old:

Boo basket for Winnie

For starters, I like to get the kids festive Halloween pajamas. So Winnie got this purple set. Purple is her favorite color, and orange is Lila’s, so it makes it very easy to find them things they love at Halloween in these color schemes. Then, I added this pair of slippers. Next, I tossed in this plush pumpkin and this plush ghost, along with a blind bag Halloween toy.

For personal care items, I grabbed a few different things. Halloween nails, lip gloss, shower gel, lotion, and some face gems to go along with her sorcerer’s costume all fit the bill. I found some Halloween slime, a Halloween “adopt a cat” figure, and a Monster High mini doll too. My girls are both obsessed with Stanley tumblers so I got them each these along with a festive straw topper. And then of course I tossed in these, some slime candies, and this hot cocoa bomb, because what is a boo basket without sweets? Not one I am giving, that’s for damn sure! And just for good measure, I tossed in this cute pumpkin wand.

My 12 year old’s basket:

Lila got a lot of the same items as Winnie. But since she’s over 5’6 already, she is in women’s sizes so I got her these pajama shorts with this basic tank. Then I grabbed her these slipper socks, this different Halloween scented shower gel, and these press-on nails. Besides that, all of her items were the same as Winnie’s. The Nightmare Before Christmas sheet masks were from Five Below if you’re curious!

Boo Baskets for my neighbors:

Boo baskets for neighbors

I try and rotate through my street on who gets my baskets since I make elaborate ones. This year, the basket above is for my neighbor, Sydney. She loves gnomes so I got her this gnome, this cat sign, and these napkins from Dollar Tree. I also got her some mini Halloween spatulas, this potion bottle, this other potion bottle, and some festive soap.

For her sons, I got these “adopt a Halloween character” toys, these squish toys, some skeleton pens, pumpkin poppers, and slime. Her family loves Harry Potter so I threw in these chocolates for each kid as well as these gummy candies. I also got her kids each a monogrammed pumpkin. And then I got Syd some skull salt and pepper shakers and tossed in Shipyard pumpkin beers for her and her husband. The Halloween candy bowl came from King Soopers. Her basket cost me $54 after tax altogether before adding in the beer, so this basket didn’t come cheap!

My friend, Jenny’s boo basket:

I’ll let you all in on a little secret. Jenny is not only my neighbor but one of my best friends, so I boo her every year. Plus, I feel like if I’m going to splurge on a basket, I know she appreciates the effort! I got her kids each a plush toy I thought they’d love. Her daughter loves cats so she got this, and her son loves Snoopy so he got this. They each also got a plastic peanuts character from 5 Below to go with the Snoopy theme. Then they got, slime, skeleton pens, and adopt-a-Halloween-character toy just like Syd’s kids. And lastly, they got some Stanley straw covers.

For the rest, I got Jenny the same napkins, soap, and spatulas I got Syd. I also got her a pair of pumpkin tongs, cookie cutters, pumpkin ring dish, and a bat mug. Her basket cost around $55 without the booze. She isn’t a beer fan so she got hard seltzer. Please keep in mind – you don’t need to spend this much on your neighbor’s boo baskets. I just love to spoil them because we really did hit the jack pot with great neighbors!

You’ve Been Boo’d Sign:

The last piece of the puzzle with any boo basket is to include a printed sheet that your neighbor tapes up in their window showcasing how they have “been boo’d”. That way, the same neighbor isn’t gifted multiple baskets while others get ignored. I have you covered if you want to use my free printable here. Not only do I like to put one in each basket, but I put a few copies to save my neighbors the trouble of printing out the signs for the baskets they are about to pass on.

If you need other inspiration on Boo Baskets, check out the ones I made for my girls last year here. And ones I made for my neighbors here and here. Here are the pink boo baskets I made. And then I created these baskets using only items from the Dollar Spot at Target. I also go all-out when I decorate our house for Halloween. You can read the blogs on how I do that here and here. If you ever need links on what I purchased for boo baskets, Halloween decor, or Halloween parties, I link it all in my LTK storefront here. As always, thanks for stopping by and Happy Halloween!
