It’s time to showcase my Halloween decor for 2024. Over the years, Halloween has slowly crept up there to be my favorite holiday alongside Christmas. I just love that there is no stress tied to Halloween. You get to dress up, eat a shit ton of candy, and call it a day. You guys already know I go all-out on my Halloween decor each year. Here is how I staged it for 2024.
China Hutch Halloween Decor:
For the hutch above, 99% of the items came from Home Goods/TJ Maxx in-store. And it’s mostly Rae Dunn ceramics. You can find it online sometimes and can also find it on Mercari if your local store doesn’t carry much. What you see here is about four years of collecting. The other odds and ends like the skeleton hands, rats, and garland, are all from Michaels.
To stage it, I unbox all of my shit into a pile on my dining room table. Then I start by staggering the colorful ceramics. Next, I fill it the other spots with my black ones. And I use risers as well as these fake books that are actually storage boxes to give height to certain canisters. I tend to just keep messing around with how I stage things until it’s exactly how I like it. Here is a photo of what it looked like last year below:
Tray Halloween Decor:
Once the hutch is done, I move onto my trays. I do three different ones and they’re all in our kitchen. Since I have a ton of different types of decor, the only way I can make it more cohesive is to have one tray with my purple crap, one with orange and black, and a green one.
For the Halloween decor on the tray above, I went with a green and black Frankenstein theme. My kids both appreciated the gum eyeballs in Frank’s mouth. The wooden potion bottle with eyes on it is from here, and Frankenstein Marshmallows here. The small plastic witch skeleton, mini broom and the rocking chair are all from the same Etsy shop here. The mug hats are also from Etsy here.
I wanted to have a tray with some purple on it since I have purple Halloween decor in my China hutch. The gumball machine is from Bullseye’s Playground and I spray-painted it with sparkly purple paint. I purchased the bead garland here, mini coffin and skeleton here, Potions and Spells scoop here, and wooden spell books here. The tiny green cauldrons are just Rae Dunn salt and pepper shakers, and the mini potion bottles are from the dollar spot (bullseye’s playground) at Target!
For my last tray of mini Halloween decor, I made it orange, black, and pops of white. The black haunted house is actually a blue wedding chapel bird house I made over. The gumball machine is yet again from bullseye’s playground at Target and I spray-painted it black. The tinier shit you see like the mini coffins, skulls, and ghosts all came from Michaels! The figures in front of the haunted house glow in the dark and I got them off Amazon here. All other ceramics are from Home Goods.
Rae Dunn not only has the darker toned ceramics that I stage in my hutch, but she also makes white Halloween canisters. I personally like all the white ones grouped together and then group the black, green, orange, and purple ones in my hutch. Below you can see how I stage my white Halloween decor. All of it is from Home Goods with the exception of the candy corn picks and the skeleton’s hat. (I refer to the skeleton as Lauren Bone-bart since she looks like she’s stripping. And no, it’s not a compliment to our Colorado Representative.)
Leftover Decor:
For the rest of my items, I clear all the books off of my bookcases and set it up decor there. My favorite part of the book cases is what I put on top. I love the “witch’s garden” vibe so there’s a planter with witch feet hanging out of it, and then a ton of creepy vines and plants to go with that vibe. The ceramics are of course Rae Dunn, and the vines and plants are all Target!
Finishing Touches:
Below are just more photos of our main living room and kitchen fully decorated!
I bought table runners and some other cute little finishes that you can find here. Then, toss in some Halloween themed hand towels, tablecloths, and candles and you’re good to go!
Halloween Decor for your coffee bar:
At Christmas time and Valentine’s Day, I tend to make my coffee bar into a hot cocoa station for my kids. But since we have a Boston Terrier who likes to chew up decor that is on the floor, his decorative brother has to live up high. So I tossed him on top of my coffee bar alongside the fake pumpkin spice coffee machine.
Lastly, I do toss some Halloween decor on our back porch in the form of throw pillows and the viral jack-o-lantern skeleton. My husband decorates our front yard with super creepy animatronics. Once he has them out I’ll make sure to include photos of that as well.
I hope these photos helped inspire you on your own Halloween decor voyage! If there are any particular items you want to know about to buy them yourself reach out to me at any time! I don’t keep secrets on all the good shit I find. Here is my blog from last year on how I decorated. And here is my blog from 2022 on how I decorated. Lastly, here, here and here are the boo baskets I’ve made over the years to help inspire you as well! Thanks as always for stopping by and Happy Halloween!
