I am a sucker for smoothies, especially when I am trying to get in shape. This one came from me attempting to throw together some healthy shit that would fill me up without containing a million calories. The spinach packs in a ton of fiber, magnesium, and folate with just around 7 calories per cup. The acai adds in antioxidants, which help neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals in the body. The pineapple adds some sweetness so that you don’t feel like you’re just drinking straight spinach, because gross! If I want the taste of solid spinach, I’ll have a damn salad, thank you very much. And the chia seeds give you a healthy dose of fiber, antioxidants, and protein. If you’re feeling really crazy, add a banana in too for added potassium and fiber. I also prefer to add almond milk versus regular milk since it has less carbs and calories, but feel free to use whatever milk you keep on hand!
Ingredients:
One packet of Organic Acai Puree from Trader Joe’s. If you’re not near a TJ’s, get some similar ones here from Target. (One pack contain 80 calories.)
One cup of unsweetened almond milk (60 calories)
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple chunks (50 calories)
2 cups of fresh spinach (14 calories)
1/2 Tablespoon of chia seeds (30 calories)
A handful of ice
Voila! For a little under 250 calories you have a smoothie that will not only keep you full, but also help detox your body!
