It’s that time of year again where I haul 20 fuck-tons of Christmas bins up the stairs and decorate! Join me on this year’s rendition of my home decor! This year it took me about five solid days to get it all unpacked and decorated to my liking. I’ve mentioned this in the past, but the problem with my Christmas home decor is that I have a wide range of tastes. I like traditional green and red, but I also like the farmhouse distressed look. And then I swing the other direction and like vintage pink and mint too. So in order to make it not look like a crazy person decorated, I make each floor its own theme. And on our top floor, each room has its own theme!

Main Level: Gingerbread Decor

My favorite of all my themes is gingerbread men. While the newest trend I’ve seen is to do it in all neutrals of browns and whites, it’s not Christmas to me without red and green. The majority of the items you’ll see on this level are from Hobby Lobby. Anything ceramic is most likely from Home Goods, and then the smaller items on my tiered trays tend to be from Etsy or Target.

Before I put out a single decoration, I spend the week prior deep-cleaning my house from top to bottom. I don’t like to decorate on top of dust, I’m not a fucking animal. Then, because I have SO much damn decor, I have to take down a lot of my regular decorations. I stage my Christmas village in our bookcases that are usually full of – you guessed it – books. So I wipe all of those out minus the cookbooks that I can’t live without during the holiday season. Below you’ll see a photo of what our living room looks like once I’ve wiped out the bookcases and cleared out my giant vases of seashells out of the windows.

My “before” shot above.

And voila! The “after” photo. Note the bookcases are now filled with my Christmas village, the windows have tall gingerbread people in them, and I’ve hauled up a third book case that I filled with more gingerbread figures from Hobby Lobby. Our Christmas tree is full of ornaments we collect on all of our trips, so to make that tie in, I add red and white candy stripe ribbons running vertically down the tree. Toss a throw blanket on the back of the couch and BAM! Gingerbread galore!

It wouldn’t be my kitchen without some tiered trays!

And of course, the hot cocoa bar:

Grinch Who Stole Christmas and other themes upstairs:

For my girls’ rooms, I did an entire “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” theme. The bedding is from Pottery Barn, and I got the girls Grinch jammies from Target! The rest of their decor is all from Hobby Lobby.

I had a smathering of pink and mint, so I threw that in my office/craft room because I already have that room decorated in those colors:

Our master bedroom is in purple and silver. I loved decorating my room for Christmas as a kid, and my favorite color back then was purple. So these are old AF decorations from the late 80’s – most of them from Target. I made the wreath just to tie it all together.

Snowmen in the basement:

This entire level is snowmen. I had a mix of red and green ones as well as rustic ones, so I separate them into different rooms:

Our bathroom in our basement is still in snowmen, but only black and white ones to match our existing colors.

Below is our guest room that has a more rustic feel:

Since I slightly switch things up year after year, here are some photos of my Christmas 2023 set up!
