It’s time for part two of our family travels to Australia! Today, I want to dive in to the Sydney Aquarium (see what I did there?) We actually hit up the aquarium on a total whim after doing an Aboriginal Walking Tour nearby. The kids always love a good aquarium, and Vince was excited to see a dugong (they’re like manatees but with a fluked tail), so off we went! Tickets are $51 per adult and $38 per child for kids ages 3-15.

The SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium has many exhibits including: Day and night on the reef, Dugong Island, Shark Valley, Discovery Rockpool and my youngest daughter’s favorite, Penguin Expedition. The aquarium reminds me of Shedd Aquarium in Chicago if you’ve ever been there. Shark Valley is cool because you wind down a bunch of ramps to go to the lowest level of the aquarium where you then walk through an underwater tunnel. Additionally, it allows you to see a ton of sharks, dugongs, and fish and is a fun experience to feel like you’re underwater with all of the sea creatures.

Since we had done the aboriginal walking tour before we hit up the Sydney aquarium, we didn’t roll up until two hours before closing time. Due to that, we had to hurry through but still got to enjoy it! And like any good marketers, the exit of the aquarium is a gift shop. My kids went bananas for all of the stuffed sea creatures and accessories. Overall, if you have kids or if you just enjoy a good aquarium, I highly recommend SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium! The location is great, the size isn’t too large for little legs to walk through, and you also can get great pics of the Harbor Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Give yourself more time than we did to enjoy one of the feedings or demonstrations! For more ideas on things to do in Sydney, check out my other blog here. Thanks for reading!
